Deleting your account
Sad to see you go, but it's your call. You can delete your account yourself, any time. Just know it's permanent and it happens right away.
From the app
- 1. Open ShommyX Mobile and sign in.
- 2. Go to Account.
- 3. Tap Delete account.
- 4. Type DELETE to confirm. Still have money in either account? We'll ask you to sign too, because deleting means you lose it.
Heads up: any money left in your wallet goes with it
Deleting wipes your wallet and its history, so whatever is left in your naira or dollar account disappears too. We can't bring it back afterwards, and we can't move it to another account.
Spend it first. Wallet money can't be withdrawn to a bank, so use it on data, airtime or calls. Not sure what to do with what's left? Email us before you delete and we'll help you out.
What gets erased
- • Your profile — name, email, phone number and ShommyX ID.
- • Your naira and dollar accounts, and any balance in them.
- • Your full transaction history and top-up records.
- • Your saved contacts.
- • Your calling credentials, so the app can no longer place calls.
What we have to keep
Two small things stick around, and here's why.
- • A note that the account existed. That's the name, email and phone number it was registered with. It stops anyone closing an account after abuse and coming back with a clean slate.
- • Purchases you completed. Airtime, data, bills and gift cards you already bought and received. Your account gets detached from them, but the sale itself is a financial record we're required to keep for accounting and tax.
Neither one can be used to sign in, and neither brings anything back. A deleted account can't be reopened, so you'd sign up again from scratch.
Already uninstalled the app?
No wahala. Email support@shommyxmobile.com from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. We'll check it's really you first, then email you once it's done.
If you can still reinstall and sign in, that's quicker. The app deletes right away, while an email has to wait for one of us to get to it.
